“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity.”
John Muir - 1901
Studies have shown that people of all ages and abilities enjoy higher levels of health and well-being when they have access to nature.
Access to nature has been related to lower levels of mortality and illness, higher levels of physical activity and social connection, lower levels of anxiety and depression, greater sense of well-being and restoration from stress.
In short, access to nature makes us happier and healthier human beings! It is good Rx for our body, mind and soul.
Recognizing these important health and wellness benefits, the White Tank Mountains Conservancy is creating a self-guided wellness program to be used at Skyline Regional Park and the White Tank Mountain Regional Park. The program is free and will be available to everyone through our web site as a digital download which may be viewed on any computer or mobile device. The program will also be available as a hard copy if an individual so desires to print the guide as a hard copy from their own printer.
During these difficult times we realize that visiting the parks is important. Please check with the park websites through the links on our website for up to date news on open times and social distancing.
